Beautiful Blood Oranges....in a tart!

Blood oranges are a rare find in my area. SO, when I saw that Super Wal-mart had them by the bagful, well of course I didn't walk away without a bag!

My next item on my list of things to do after I bought the oranges was to find something to do with them.


I found a blog post on Cast Sugar for this Blood Orange Tart - so I got busy and made my tart! Nemmie also gave a link for Salted Caramel Sauce. At first I thought I wouldn't bother with the caramel sauce, then I decided why not! I am so glad I made it although I have to admit it is addicting and you can eat it easily by the spoonfuls! The caramel is a perfect accent to the slightly "tart" tart!

  17. Oh, man. That caramel sauce really pushes this dessert over the edge. I'm pretty sure I couldn't leave this tart alone until it was completely devoured. It looks soooo good, and I just love blood oranges. They make for beautiful--and scrumptious--desserts!
