Beautiful Blood Oranges….in a tart!

Blood oranges are a rare find in my area. SO, when I saw that Super Wal-mart had them by the bagful, well of course I didn’t walk away without a bag!

My next item on my list of things to do after I bought the oranges was to find something to do with them.

I found a blog post on Cast Sugar for this Blood Orange Tart – so I got busy and made my tart! Nemmie also gave a link for Salted Caramel Sauce. At first I thought I wouldn’t bother with the caramel sauce, then I decided why not! I am so glad I made it although I have to admit it is addicting and you can eat it easily by the spoonfuls! The caramel is a perfect accent to the slightly “tart” tart!

For the tart recipe, please check out Nemmie’s blog and click here for the Salted Caramel Sauce. I promise you, you will not be sorry you did!

That looks awesome, love the crust. You know, it’s kind of sad. I’ve never had a blood orange. I’ll have to fix that.

You know I still have two sitting in my produce drawer that I’ve yet to use. I need to eat those up.

Your tart looks gorgeous, that read just pops!

Oh, man. That caramel sauce really pushes this dessert over the edge. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t leave this tart alone until it was completely devoured. It looks soooo good, and I just love blood oranges. They make for beautiful–and scrumptious–desserts!

Wow those are cool looking oranges. I haven’t seen those before. I’m afraid by the time I get over to Potsdam they’ll be gone. I’ll blame you if none are left :)

I have never seen these oranges except in pictures because we don’t get them here. But they seem to lend everything such gorgeous colour.
