Not too long ago my friend Barbara of Barbara Bakes made some Pumped up Rice Krispie Treats. She made her's much healthier than I did today. I just made the basic treat....and decorated them with stars! Ever since I saw her treats I had it in my head I needed to make some and today was the perfect opportunity to do so!
My cousin Ryan is in Syracuse, NY today performing in the 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee. If you are close by and want to catch his show, you may still be able to get tickets. I received an email from ticket master yesterday saying it wasn't too late and the price was very reasonable! In any case, I got to thinking. About stars. I really think Ryan will make it in his world. He is a really talented young man. So, I thought, hmmm. Why don't I make these Rice Krispie Treats for him and sprinkle them with stars!! Tonight, when my son Chris and I see Ryan, I will give him these goodies and let him know that I think he will be successful!
Rice Krispie Treats
1 stick butter
1 bag mini marshmallows
7-8 cups rice krispie treats
decorating stars!
Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large saucepan, stiring constantly. Add Rice Krispies and stir to combine. Put in 9x13 pan sprayed with cooking spray. Spray spoon with cooking spray and flatten treats out into pan. Sprinkle with candies. Cool, cut, serve!
I also want to mention that I joined Adopt-a-Blogger. Kristen of Dine and Dish leads out in the Adopt-a-Blogger event. This event is where "seasoned" bloggers adopt a "new blogger" (someone who has blogged less than a year) and work with them to give them tips on how to write a successful blog. One of my tips to new bloggers is that you shouldn't use too small of a print in your writing. I find that I don't want to read a blog if I have to strain my eyes to read the print!
My new adoptee is Natalie of Tried and Tested. Natalie has a lot going on over the next few months as she is moving to the states! She also has an abundance of links on her blog for recipes she wants to try along with recipes she has tried. Please go check her blog out and let her know her Adopted blogger sent you there!

Thanks for the shout out! What a sweet idea! I'm headed over to check out Natalie's blog.
I have heared of rice krispies, but never had them, so I'll definetely bookmark this one!
Unfortunately I was late again to enter for the Adopt-a-Blogger, that event sounds like so much fun... I guess I just have to be patient and wait for the next time to come around!
Ohh a new blog for me to check out! I love the idea of adopting other bloggers :)
Darling! Now I've got to get my post ready for my peanut butter rice krispy treats...they've disappeared! You've got a great idea of adopting bloggers...thanks for sharing!
Ryan will love the stars! These look yummy! I will have to go check out your adoptee!
My niece loves rice krispie treats... she'd love them even more with the stars! Great tip, Honey!
Okay my kids would love the stars and so would I!
Adding the sprinkles makes them so much cuter. Good luck to Ryan.
Treats look tasty!! Love the idea of adopting a blogger.
How sweet of you to make those for Ryan! Hope you enjoy the show!
And, can you adopt me, too? :)~
Wow!! What a difference a few bright little stars makes!!
Connor has a birthday party thsi weekend & has requested a cookie cake. I had also planned on making cupcakes to go with but maybe rice krispy treats would be a better idea. Your's look so festive.
Tell Ryan to break a leg! BTW I said hello to Natalie...how sweet of you to "adopt" her.
I love the color and lighting..of this sweet treat stars stars! and welcome to Natalie your new adoptee.
Hey, great that you get to see Ryan again. You are right he is a star and what a nice thing to give him these treats with the stars.
You are a gem!
What a fun treat! I love that you added the little stars to them!
Hubby's favorite treats in the world, minus the stars, of course--I'd never convince him to add anything but chocolate chips to his ;)
What sweet treats and a sweet sentiment. I'm sure he'll love these tasty little treats!
How festive!! I have some red, white and blue star sprinkles, I think I'll "borrow" your idea for the 4th of July this year.
I saw your button for the adoptee the other day, and I checked out Natalie's blog. Very nice indeed.
Now aren't those Rice Krispie treats just the prettiest temptation with those stars!
How cute are these?!
I love this idea! Especially as it is hard to find your voice when you are starting out (I am almost 6 months old...so to speak).
I guess also pairing up with someone who is looking to get the same thing out of blogging (improve cooking, food photography, etc) would be helpful.
What a clever idea! Love love love the stars! So cute!
OMG if my kids see this they will not let up until I make them! Too cute!
The are adorable Shelby. It 's a very nice touch to the treats and i'm sure your nephew will love them!
I love the stars! Brianna saw the picture and immediately asked if we could make them. (Okay, actually she first asked it this was my recipe to make for the week. How funny is that?) Then she suggested that maybe we could use some flower sprinkles that we have. I think they'll be great!
S ~ I LOVE the ideas of adding the colorful stars.
I hope Ryan did really well!!!
xo~m.
I can't resist plain old RKT but with colorful star sprinkled one them, they're going to be an absolute obsession!
Hi just saw the rice crispies and they look delicious specially with the stars! In India, we have a similar treat that is available during the winter months on the streets. Vendors take the little rounds made from puffed rice and sugar or jaggery on their bicycles and do the rounds of neighbourhoods!
Please see my blog http://indiafoodandtravelguide.com/, a new site, and let me know what you think of it!
Yay for Ryan - as a former actress and now playwright - it's a hard road but a grand life when you earn a living! My daughter adores rice krispie bars and I hardly ever make them. love the stars. Ryan sure has earned some.
This is the cutest post! Good luck Ryan (I know I'm late)!! How do I nominate myself to be adopted?
