Crispy outside with a beautiful tender inside, these Homemade Apple Fritters are a perfect breakfast or brunch fall treat and I made them again this week to celebrate our last day of #AppleWeek!

Homemade Apple Fritters

I first made these homemade apple fritters the year we moved to Albany (2010). I used my Mom’s Homemade Apple Pie in a Jar filling in this recipe for the apple portion, and they turned out wonderfully! I adjusted the recipe slightly this time and added more baking powder to the recipe and that is what made the outside of the fritter crispier!

Homemade Apple Fritters

These are especially yummy with a little bit of pecan pumpkin maple topping to dip into, or you can just sprinkle with some cinnamon sugar or confectioners sugar. They are not super sweet to start, so a little bit of sugar on top of these homemade apple fritters is a good thing!

Homemade Apple Fritters

Most of you know I am not big on frying with hot grease. It’s kind of messy and much more fattening. However, some things you have to sacrifice for and these fritters are worth it. I used a smaller pan and not too much grease (just enough to cover the little donut sized balls of dough). It’s real important to keep control of your temperature when frying so I also always use my candy thermometer to make sure my grease doesn’t stray too far from the 350 degree mark.
