These heart shaped prettily decorated soft sugar cookies are the perfect give for your Valentine this year! Soft and tender cookies with a sweet decorated icing with pretty heart shapes created in the icing!
Valentine Soft Sugar Cookies

The cookie recipe is one my Aunt Marlene shared and produces a very soft and tender cookie from. It came from an Amish Cookbook that she owns.  The instructions in the book were pretty vague and as my Aunt states, it’s a good things we know what to do!

Who is your Valentine and would you like to make them smile with these cookies? They really are easy to make. Once you ice the cookie with your solid color, you will let them sit to dry for a little bit. Then, you will drop little dots of a contrasting color on top of the icing and draw a toothpick through the dots forming the heart shapes!

For the cookie above, I had drawn a thin white glaze around the red heart and dipped that in sugar before filling the cookie with the red glaze.

I used a tutorial from Our Best Bites for decorating with glace icing to decorate the cookies.  This is the tutorial I found when I made and decorated my first glazed cookies – the Snowflake Cookies!  I will always use the recipe and method on Sara & Kates blog because I think it is the best out there that doesn’t incorporate meringue powder.
