Grumpy’s Honeybunch started out as a blog written to record memories for my children to have of me by sharing photos, stories, and recipes with them in a way that would leave a permanent mark. Blogging has become a joint effort with my oldest son Justin who helped me revamp the entire site in 2015. He is my partner in the sense that he does everything except make the recipes and write the posts! You don’t see him in the forefront often, but he is the glue that keeps me and our blog working!
I love to create fun, healthy, delicious recipes with the exception of an occasional indulgence, which you will see here on my blog. I share products that I love and oftentimes will create recipes because I love a particular product and want to have several ways of using it! I hope you enjoy the recipes and stories behind it all. On the weekend of my 54th birthday (2017) I made the decision to follow the Ketogenic diet. This helped me lose 40 pounds in 4 months. While my main way of eating remains Keto, not everyone around me eats that way. For this reason I have also decided that it is now ok to look at Paleo and other diets like Whole 30. While I still feel my diet need to be low carb due to my circumstances, I don’t feel that I have to completely and totally leave them out all the time. Just most of the time! For this reason, you will continue to see a mix of recipes that I share with you. I may or may not be consuming them myself, but someone very close to me usually is and has and the success of that recipe falls upon whether they enjoyed it or not. If they enjoyed it, your seeing it!
My maternal grandmother (Nanny) and my Mom both have had a great impact on my life. I inherited my love of baking and sharing my food with others from both of them. You couldn’t visit Nanny without finding something sweet, usually cookies, in her treat box. Mom on the other hand, while she doesn’t always have a sweet treat around, she loves to eat them, to the point where her family will tease her endlessly about not sharing with Dad! My goals going forward are to take some of those family recipes and experiment and change them to fit more of the diet lifestyle I have chosen to live. You will see some of those recipes popping up as I move on and try to recreate them.
My sons are Justin and Christopher. They are my heart and there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for them. They both inherited a love of food and both are great cooks and bakers!
Grumpy is the man I love with all my heart and soul. He has a huge passion for hunting and no interest in cooking. He likes to leave that to me! He would tell you that he is very leary of what I am making for our dinner at times. Especially when he doesn’t get a direct answer to “what’s for dinner?”. We live a happy and fun life, although it’s not without a little controversy at times such as the notorious toothbrush debate.
Apart from my enjoyment of making delicious food I enjoy getting outdoors to hike, boat or travel. I love wine and I love animals, but I especially love our cats Chubby and Rudy!
